Safely in Tanzania

After another 30 hour travel adventure I made it to Dar es Salaam,
Tanzania. The rest of our team arrives tomorrow and Sunday we begin
the 8 to 10 hour journey to Kibidula. Training begins Monday.

I lost my glasses on this last trip - maybe at the airport. Please
pray i can find then if that would be the best.

All thing work together for good

This past week I have been traveling to Africa. My journey began
Monday night with a "red-eye" flight of faith from Los Angeles to
Washington DC. It was a flight of faith because at the time of
departure I did not have my passport or visa... It was at the Nigerian
visa in Washington. My plan was to arrive in DC at 7:00 am, rush to
the embassy and then make it back to the airport to catch my 12:00
flight! Upon arrival in DC everything worked smoothly. I got my bag
and then made my way by bus and subway to the embassy. I was hoping
that I could simply get my Passport shortly after they opened at 9 am
and then rush back to the airport. I soon realized that was not going
to happen... The person who dealt with Visas did not arrive until
10:15! I was the first person in line and to my surprise the
gentleman at the counter said my application had not even started to
be processed!!! I explained the situation to him and he told me to
just sit down and wait. God's peace overwhelmed my as I waited.
About 10:35 they motioned my to the window to pick up my passport -
complete with Nigerian visa!!! I called Ethiopian airlines and they
told me there was still a possibility to make the flight. I needed a
taxi - the subway and bus would take far too long! I walked the 1/2
mile to the main road and while walking I called for a taxi. The
company I called said they would send one but every minute counted so
I scanned the road for an empty taxi. Then I saw it - an empty taxi!
I was still hopefull that I would make the flight as most of the
Ethiopian flights I had previously taken were delayed. I jumped in
and we headed for the Dulles airport. As I was riding the LORD showed
me why events were unfolding as they were - it was to meet the taxi
driver, Al, and share with Him some of the precious insights from the
book of Revelation. We talked nearly the entire 40 minute trip and
exchanged information. We parted with prayer and I hurried inside. I
ran to the Ethiopian ticket counter but no one was there. The airplane
was still at the gate so I still had a chance. After talking with an
agent from another airline I hurried to the information desk
downstairs. The lady there was very helpful and got a hold of someone
at the gate. Still a chance! I talked with the gentleman on the other
end of the line and he told me there was no chance to get on because
the plane was about to push back - early, at 11:51.

Then reality set in - I would need to wait 24 hours for the next
flight and then miss my connection in Ethiopia and arrive in Nigeria
two days after my initial itinerary stated. God reminded me of Romans
8:28 and I was struck again with the thought that this entire
adventure was to make a divine appointment with Al! Praise the LORD!!!

But the Lord is orchestrating more than that. I was able to attend
prayer meeting at a local Adventist church and many were blest by the
testimony I shared of God's providence!

And, I now have an extra day in Ethiopia to talk with some of the key
people about an upcoming six-month LIGHT program planned at the Gimbie
hospital this summer!
